Microsoft: Heroes Happen Here Microsoft asked Carolyn Jones to travel around the world to photograph and celebrate people utilizing internet technology in their local communities in exceptional ways. We met Omer Celik in Istanbul, Turkey whose camera-ready miniature helicopters facilitate crisis relief, Patrick Cohen from the Dead Sea, Israel who believes his work harvesting potash as fertilizer can help end world hunger, and Josh Kunken, who is researching a cure for cancer at the Scripps Institute in La Jolla, CA. This book celebrates heroes of the digital age whose work is profound in its impact and reach.

LPL: Advice for life Carolyn and Isabel spent one month driving from San Francisco to New York in a 24-foot RV trailer to meet financial advisors and everyday people for LPL’s “Invest in Others” outreach. We spoke to them about why it’s important to invest in community and what community means to them. As we drove, we found America in July 4th parades, rodeos, canyons, cherry stands, and along highways, cornfields and streams. This book tells the story of our cross-country journey, and of the individuals who have made charitable giving a part of their lives and the people whose lives are changed by that exchange.
